And surely if a women is a muslimah that is she submits her will totally to ALLAH Azzawajal then she would obey whatever Allah has decreed upon the muslims and she will avoid the things which are forbidden by ALLAH Azzawajal without any doubt or questioning and she will also follow the Sunnah the best possible manner as possible.
And obey Allah and His Messenger. and fall into no disputes, lest ye lose heart and your power depart; and be patient and persevering: For Allah is with those who patiently persevere(8:46)
It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path(33:36)
He who obeys the Messenger, obeys Allah. But if any turn away, We have not sent thee to watch over their (evil deeds)(4:80)
Its not possible to be a muslim/muslimah just by following some of the commandments and leaving some. Its as if they are playing with the Decree of The Most Exalted Allah Azzawajal, and making their own way to follow the Divine Way of life.
Those who deny Allah and His apostles, and (those who) wish to separate Allah from His apostles, saying: “We believe in some but reject others”: And (those who) wish to take a course midway, They are in truth (equally) unbelievers; and we have prepared for unbelievers a humiliating punishment(4:150-151)
Is then one who is on a clear (Path) from his Lord, no better than one to whom the evil of his conduct seems pleasing, and such as follow their own lusts?(47:14)
Seest thou such a one as taketh for his god his own passion (or impulse)? Couldst thou be a disposer of affairs for him?(25:43)
So a muslimah who avoids all the evils will without doubt follow whatever Allah has commanded upon her. And Allah has clearly mentioned in the Quran regarding the obligation of maintaining Hijab for both men and women(24:31)
And also when we go through Surat Al Ahzab ch.33 we can clearly see what Allah has ordered to the wives of the Prophets(peace be upon them all)
(28) O Prophet! Say to thy Consorts: “If it be that ye desire the life of this World, and its glitter,- then come! I will provide for your enjoyment and set you free in a handsome manner.
(29) But if ye seek Allah and His Messenger, and the Home of the Hereafter, verily Allah has prepared for the well-doers amongst you a great reward.
(30) O Consorts of the Prophet! If any of you were guilty of evident unseemly conduct, the Punishment would be doubled to her, and that is easy for Allah.
(31) But any of you that is devout in the service of Allah and His Messenger, and works righteousness,- to her shall We grant her reward twice: and We have prepared for her a generous Sustenance.
(32) O Consorts of the Prophet! Ye are not like any of the (other) women: if ye do fear ((Allah)), be not too complacent of speech, lest one in whose heart is a disease should be moved with desire: but speak ye a speech (that is) just.
(33) And stay quietly in your houses, and make not a dazzling display, like that of the former Times of Ignorance; and establish regular Prayer, and give regular Charity; and obey Allah and His Messenger. And Allah only wishes to remove all abomination from you, ye members of the Family, and to make you pure and spotless.
(34) And recite what is rehearsed to you in your homes, of the Signs of Allah and His Wisdom: for Allah understands the finest mysteries and is well-acquainted (with them).
(35) For Muslim men and women,- for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in Charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah.s praise,- for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward.
So we can clearly see what Allah has mentioned in the Holy book then how can there be any muslimah who would follow all the good and shun all the evil yet not observing one of the main obligation upon her?
We are obliged to follow our Rasool Sallallahualeihiwasallam and he(Sallallahualeihiwasallam) is our guide and he should be our role model.
We have to follow him and the Sahabas as they are the one who gave us the glad tidings and warned us about the evils
We send the apostles only to give good news and to warn: so those who believe and mend (their lives),- upon them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve(6:48)
We sent not an apostle except (to teach) in the language of his (own) people, in order to make (things) clear to them. Now Allah leaves straying those whom He pleases and guides whom He pleases: and He is Exalted in power, full of Wisdom(14:4)
So to be successful and a true muslim we have to follow them(peace and blessings be upon them all).
We can see in hadiths how swiftly they followed the Decree of Allah Azzawajal without any delay what so ever. When the verse “O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful”(33:59) was relieved its said in a hadith
Narated By Safiya bint Shaiba(Radiallahuanha) : ‘Aisha(Radiallahuanha) used to say: “When (the Verse): “They should draw their veils over their necks and bosoms,” was revealed, (the ladies) cut their waist sheets at the edges and covered their faces with the cut pieces.”(Sahih Al Bukhari Volumn 006, Book 060, Hadith Number 282)
Narated By ‘Aisha, Ummul Mu’minin : May Allah have mercy on the early immigrant women. When the verse “That they should draw their veils over their bosoms” was revealed, they tore their thick outer garments and made veils from them.( Sunan Abu Dawud Book 027, Hadith Number 4091.
Chapter : On the meaning of the quranic verse that they should draw their veils over their bosoms.)
Ibn al-Sarh said: I saw (this tradition) in the writing of my maternal uncle from ‘Aqil, from Ibn Shihab through a different chain of narrators and to the same effect.
Narated By Umar(Radiallahuanhu) : I said, “O Allah’s Apostle(Sallallahuleihiwasallam)! Good and bad persons enter upon you, so I suggest that you order the mothers of the Believers (i.e. your wives) to observe veils.” Then Allah revealed the Verses of Al-Hijab(Sahih Al Bukhari Volumn 006, Book 060, Hadith Number 313)
Narated By ‘Aisha(Radiallahuanha) : (The wife of the Prophet) when Allah’s Apostle(Sallallahuleihiwasallam) was ordered to give option to his wives, he(Sallallahuleihiwasallam) started with me, saying, “I am going to mention to you something, but you shall not hasten (to give your reply) unless you consult your parents.” The Prophet(Sallallahuleihiwasallam) knew that my parents would not order me to leave him. Then he said, “Allah says: ‘O Prophet (Muhammad) (Sallallahuleihiwasallam)! Say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world and its glitter… a great reward.” (33.28-29) I said, “Then why I consult my parents? Verily, I seek Allah, His Apostle(Sallallahuleihiwasallam) and the Home of the Hereafter.” Then all the other wives of the Prophet(Sallallahuleihiwasallam) did the same as I did(Sahih Al Bukhari Volumn 006, Book 060, Hadith Number 309)
SubhanAllah how swiftly the followed the Decree of ALLAH Azzawajal.
There are a lot of hadiths that deals with hijab. Few has been mentioned above and there are more like
Sunan Abu Dawud Book 027, Hadith Number 4092.
Chapter : How much beauty can a woman display.
Narated By ‘Aisha(Radiallahuanha), Ummul Mu’minin : Asma, daughter of Abu Bakr, entered upon the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) wearing thin clothes. The Apostle of Allah (pbuh) turned his attention from her. He said: O Asma’, when a woman reaches the age of menstruation, it does not suit her that she displays her parts of body except this and this, and he pointed to her face and hands.
(many people refer to his Hadith as saying niqab is not necessary but this isn’t right as we can clearly see in the verse 59 of Surat Al Ahzab about the necessity of Niqab too. InshaAllah keep an eye on the next note where I will share the fatwa on niqab in light of the Quran and Hadiths given by highest eminent scholars)
Sunan Abu Dawud Book 027, Hadith Number 4104.
Chapter : Wearing of fine linen by women.
Narated By Dihyah ibn Khalifah al-Kalbi(Radiallahuanha) : The Apostle of Allah (Sallallahuleihiwasallam)brought some pieces of fine Egyptian linen and he gave me one and said: Divide it into two; cut one of the pieces into a shirt and give the other to your wife for veil. Then when he turned away, he said: And order your wife to wear a garment below it and not show her figure.
Sunan Abu Dawud Book 027, Hadith Number 4100.
Chapter : On the meaning of the quranic verse and say to the beleiving woman that they should lower their gaze.
Narated By Umm Salamah, Ummul Mu’minin(Radiallahuanha) : I was with the Apostle of Allah (Sallallahuleihiwasallam) while Maymunah was with him. Then Ibn Umm Maktum came. This happened when we were ordered to observe veil (purdah). The Prophet (Sallallahuleihiwasallam) said: Observe veil from him. We asked: Apostle of Allah! is he not blind? He can neither see us nor recognise us. The Prophet (pbuh) said: Are both of you blind? Do you not see him?
May Allah Guide us all to the right Path and Indeed He Knows what is in our heart and what we do “For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower”(89:14)
